ABOUT Bodrum Kitchen

Bodrum Kitchen was created in late 2015 by Turkish restaurateur duo, Alex Isik and Nigar Ivgen.
Their inspiration stems from the ancient culture of Bodrum itself, a port city in Muğla Province, in
the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey. 

Bodrum is renowned as a major tourist attraction thanks to its beautiful coastline, typical
Mediterranean climate and a plethora of historical sites such as the original Mausoleum.
The city showcases a marriage of Mediterranean cultures imbedded in 5000 years of dominant
civilisations such as the Persians, Macedonians, Byzantines and the Roman Empire. 

Most importantly, Bodrum’s cuisine has been beautifully preserved in time, offering countless
traditional favourites such as menemem, sigara borek, loukamades, dolmades, and of course
lahmacun.
Bodrum Kitchen’s philosophy is a simple one: To transport you to the shores of the
magical coastal city named Bodrum, where you can experience a piece of the Mediterranean with
our beautifully crafted food, friendly service and tranquil atmosphere.

turkish delight - Life made sweeter

The work of an expert Turkish delight-maker is garnering a following at a new Auckland eatery. It may even end up with a new name - or two.

"I don't know why people only say 'Turkish delight'. I call it Greek delight or, in Greece, we call it loukoumi," says Denada Becoku, as she regards her latest batch of the silky soft, delicately flavoured sweet, sitting under its dusting of snowy icing sugar on the low marble counter where she works.

Feriza is the sister of restaurant owner, Alex Isik, creating sweet masterpieces in kitchen for over 9 years with her brother.
Feriza, also originally from Turkey, takes inspiration from her mother’s traditional cooking, elevating them with her own creative flare and discerning palate for all things sweet and wondrous!

Danielle Dexter

Restaurant Manager -the feisty sweetheart

Many of you will recognise Miss Dexter from Deco Eatery in Titirangi, Danielle has a natural gift for
service and management, but most of all, her love for working the floor and connecting with
customers is unmistakable. If you ever feel a vibrant energy envelop you while entering Bodrum
Kitchen, that’ll be our Danielle spreading the Bodrum culture across every table she seats.

With the Mozaik Caffe franchise, Zigana Espresso, Deco Eatery, Nomad Restaurant andCasablanca already under their belts, this friendly duo know their stuff when it comes to the Mediterranean culture! Both originally from Turkey, Alex and Nigar set their sites on New Zealand for a fresh start and a dream to share their passion for food and people with the beautiful city of Auckland.
